AND THEN THERE WERE TWO...

Spring, 2010: by chance we ended up on the same spring break backpacking trip in Utah. He was adventurous and funny. I didn't bathe for days which he admired. We ate PB&J every day, shivered through several freak snow storms, worked at a school for a free meal, and carried a guy injured in a rappelling accident to safety. We also discussed our mutual passion for travel. In the summer of 2013 we got married with a vision of continuing our globe trotting and becoming involved in humanitarian efforts.

From the beginning I was raised into a life of adventure. Being born to parents living in Malawi and then growing up in the Pacific Northwest with some time spent living in Haiti kept my stone from gathering any moss. I picked up an undergrad degree in International Rescue and Relief followed by medical school. Now I'm in a family medicine residency with plans to work internationally when I finish. My love for spending time in the outdoors was helped along by summers spent working as a climbing and rafting guide. I split my limited free time between reading and planning (or going on) the next epic foray into our vast world.

I'm a registered nurse with an interest in tropical and wilderness medicine, currently working on a master's degree in nursing education. I was born in Utah but was promptly relocated to Africa for seven years by my adventurous parents. This was to be the trend of my life with many a move around the USA, followed by a second international stint in Papua New Guinea. I've traveled to every continent but Antarctica and fill my free time with art, photography, books, food, and outdoorsy adventures. If I wasn't a nurse I'd pursue a degree in public health and run a hobby farm. If you'd asked me when I was a kid what I'd be doing when I grew up, I would have definitely told you I was going to be a farmer!
